Alternate Enrollment Programs

Summary of Alternate Enrollment Programs

Alternate enrollment programs are available to UCI students wishing to take courses at other campuses. In addition, programs are available to individuals not enrolled at UCI but wish to take courses on the UCI campus.

Simultaneous Enrollment

This program allows undergraduates of the University of California to enroll without formal admission at another UC campus. Further information is available on our Simultaneous Enrollment page.

Cross-Enrollment

This program permits undergraduates enrolled in any campus of the California Community Colleges, the California State University, or the University of California, to enroll, without formal admission, in a maximum of one course per academic term at a campus of either of the other systems. More information is available on our Cross-Enrollment page.

Intercampus Visitor Program

This program allows qualified UCI undergraduates to enroll in courses at another campus for a single term. This program provides the opportunity to take courses not available on the UCI campus, participate in special programs at another campus, or study with a distinguished faculty member at another campus. Further information is available on our Intercampus Visitor Program page.

Intercampus Exchange

This program allows UCI graduate students to take a course at another UC campus. This program is for students who seek the opportunity for contact with scholars, fields of study, and facilities not available on the UCI campus. Further information is available on the Graduate Division website.

Concurrent Enrollment

This program allows an individual to enroll in undergraduate and graduate UCI courses without formal admission to UCI. This program is administered by the UCI Division of Continuing Education. Further information is available on our Concurrent Enrollment Page as well as on the UCI Division of Continuing Education website.

Summer Session

The Summer Session program offers multiple sessions during the summer for both UCI students and non-UCI students. UCI students often enroll in these courses in order to graduate early. Non-UCI students often enroll through Summer Session in order to take UCI courses without formal admission to the University. To enroll in UCI courses for a summer term, contact Summer Session.

Students from other UC campuses

Students from other UC campuses who wish to participate in any of these alternate enrollment programs must initiate the enrollment process at their home campus (Concurrent Enrollment excluded).
